Disease Prevention:

Handwashing is one of the most effective and simple ways to prevent the spread of various diseases, including respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal infections, and more.

Healthcare Setting:

In hospitals and other healthcare settings, proper hand hygiene practices are essential for preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAI).

Public Health:

Promoting hand hygiene in schools, communities, and public spaces contributes to overall public health by reducing the transmission of infections.

How to get involved:

Learn about proper handwashing techniques: The WHO's 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene provide guidance on when and how to wash hands effectively.

Use hand sanitizer appropriately:

If soap and water are not readily available, alcohol-based hand sanitizers can be used as an alternative.

Promote hand hygiene in your community:

Share information about World Hand Hygiene Day with your family, friends, and colleagues.

Support healthcare organizations:

Encourage healthcare professionals to follow proper hand hygiene practices and advocate for the responsible use of gloves.
